Hand-coloured engraving of a blue-grey bird with a yellow throat perched on a branch of white bell flowers and green leaves

Finch Creeper

$48.00

A small blue-grey bird with a yellow throat and a blush of rose at the breast perches on a branch of hanging white bell-shaped flowers. Broad green leaves fan out above and below, and clusters of dark, ridged seed pods hang near the foot of the stem. The plate is marked T. 64 at the top corner, with the Latin names Frutex &c. and Parus fringillaris engraved along the bottom edge.

This is a giclée reproduction of Mark Catesby's finch creeper plate, from his natural history work of 1731–43. The warm cream ground and the fine engraved lines in the leaves and feathers suit a study, a hallway, or a wall of botanical and bird prints. It arrives unframed and ships flat, ready for a mat and frame of your choosing.
